Today, we passed a very important milestone for the excavation project. A large shipment of finds from the excavation were moved to the IAA store rooms in Beth Shemesh. This can be done only when the final plates for an archaeological report are completely ready. As the first volume of the Safi excavations is about to go to press (YEAH!!!!), Joe, Amit, Merav and Shira (thanks!), and a team of movers, transferred the finds today.
Not only is this a great thing since it means that the volume (actually a double volume…) is almost out, we now have a lot of more room for all the finds from the more recent seasons!

P.S. For those interested, the full title of the forthcoming volume is:
Maeir, A. M. In press. Tell es-Safi/Gath I: Report on the 1996–2005 Seasons. Ägypten und Altes Testament 69. Wiesbaden: Harrassowitz.
